*Unlocking the keys to longevity of egg cell supply in mammals
http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/130
------------------------------------------------------------

and Medicine have now uncovered several conditions necessary for
creating this supply of dormant egg cells in mice, providing useful
insight for the further understanding and development of reproductive
biology and medicine.
*Unraveling how local anesthetics numb pain
http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/131
------------------------------------------------------------
Local anesthetics are vital to making medical procedures more bearable
for patients around the world every day, but the detailed mechanism of
how these crucial chemicals disrupt our sensation of pain is still unclear
despite their extensive use. Now, researchers from Kyushu University’s School
of Science have evidence that points to the loosening of rigid groupings of
lipid molecules in nerve membranes as a key process.
*Atomically precise models improve understanding of fuel cells
http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/132
------------------------------------------------------------
Simulations from researchers in Japan provide new insights into the
reactions occurring in solid-oxide fuel cells by using realistic
atomic-scale models of the active site at the electrode based on
microscope observations as the starting point. This better understanding
could give clues on ways to improve performance and durability
in future devices.
