** Research

*Serine protease zymogen Prochelicerase C is intermolecularly
activated through a lipopolysaccharide-induced active transition
state
http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/96
------------------------------------------------------------
The research group led by Prof. Shun-ichiro Kawabata and Assoc.
Prof. Toshio Shibata at Kyushu University’s Faculty of Science
succeeded to confirm the presence of an active transition state
of Prochelicerase C induced by interactions with LPS.

*Electron doping improves photocatalytic activity for H2 and O2
evolution
http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/98
------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Yoshihiro Yamazaki at Kyushu University (Q-PIT), Dr. Kazuhiko
Maeda at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and collaborators have
found that the electron doping into SrTiO3 photocatalyst enlarges
photocatalytic hydrogen and oxygen evolution reaction under UV light
irradiation.

*Novel Method of Quantifying Cesium-rich Microparticles released
from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant(FDNPP)
http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/95
------------------------------------------------------------
Mr. Ryohei Ikehara (M2 student) and a team lead by Dr. Satoshi
Utsunomiya of Department of Chemistry developed a new method to
quantify the CsMPs in surface soils collected from the regions
surrounding the FDNPP based on autoradiography, which we call
“quantification of CsMPs (QCP)”.

*Exciton limits are meant to be broken: OLED surpasses 100% exciton
production efficiency
http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/97
------------------------------------------------------------
Researchers at Kyushu University’s Center for Organic Photonics and
Electronics Research (OPERA) in Japan have demonstrated a way to split
energy in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and surpass the 100%
limit for exciton production, opening a promising new route for creating
low-cost and high-intensity near-infrared light sources for sensing and
communications applications.

**Events
